Mental Mechanics is a theory by James Mill whereby all complex ideas are simply accumulations of a large amount of smaller ideas which make up a complex idea.

It is also a dedicated team of engineers and designers from Flintshire who are applying these same ideas to F1 car design, development and marketing.

Each team member contributes a small part to make up the complex final product. The team is competing in its third season with new sponsors.

Matthew Malone - Team leader

As a team leader, you have to be aware of what is going on around you at all times. Making sure you meet your deadlines your objectives and keep the team motivated. It is also my job to inspire my team to great heights. I can teach my team and learn from them as progress is made.

This season, I am not only excited and motivated but also hopeful we can beat our targets and exceed expectations. I know I have the right team with me and nothing can stop us.

Ben Williams - Graphics engineer

Being the Graphics engineer, I am responsible for creating the image of the team, from the logo of Mental Mechanics to the livery and the decals. I have created and I manage the social media accounts for Mental Mechanics giving us a digital presence and media placement.

Tom Brennan - Design engineer

As design engineer I am responsible for the design of the car both on paper and on 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor). This involves a lot of tweaking, changing and refining the design, in order to improve it whilst keeping within regulations.

I am looking forward to developing my design skills, ability to use CAD software and utilize these in the competition.
